The Future of eWriting

EPOS Pen and ReaderEPOS is a “digital positioning” company that has just released the EPOS enabled Digital Pen & USB Flash Drive, a device which they describe as “a totally portable, wireless PC peripheral pen with flash memory capabilities”.

The basic idea is that you clip a small reader device to the top of any writing surface, then use the pen as a normal writing device. The highly accurate reader determines the exact position of the pen as you write, and stores it in a flash memory file which can then be downloaded to a PC and rendered as a document complete with any written text or sketches made on the original sheet of paper. With appropriate writing recognition software installed, any of the text can then be rendered into selectable text and processed in the usual way.
